What Are You Looking At?

Hey everyone. Today, I have a question for you. What are the American design magazines you like to look at (both online and in print)? So many of the good ones have fallen away and I am wondering who is picking up the slack. It seems like there are really only a handful of print options left (Elle Decor, House Beautiful, Veranda, Dwell) and a few online publications trying to break through (Rue, Lonny). Now that Peggy Russell is at Architectural Digest, it should certainly become significantly more interesting than it has been for the last 15+ years (thank god!). The revamped magazine sounds promising based on the recent article in the New York Times. Here’s hoping…

But where do you go if you want to see more edgy interior designs without going to overseas publications? Interior Design? Wallpaper? As I was pondering this, I took a tour of the current Wallpaper website. I was unmoved by the interiors section but found some great shots from the VIP Art Fair (a very cool event that gathered work from heavy hitting galleries around the globe to be purchased online). Below are some of my favorite images:

Vogue Living Australia

One of the best things about vacation is getting to catch up on my mountain of interior design magazines. One of my favorites is Vogue Living Australia and I wanted to make sure you all know about it. The whole magazine has a bright, sunny aesthetic and manages to be cheerful and exuberant yet still sophisticated (all things I strive for in my own work and probably why I dig it so much). Also, it seems like everyone is having such a good time – even their party pics look like more fun than their staid, American cousins. I want to go see what’s up down unda!

Every magazine has product pages but theirs are dense and dazzling eye candy, full of great ideas and products. Check out two from their Jan/Feb issue (no judgments – I told you I was behind…)
