Ceylon et Cie

Aw yeah… Those were my first thoughts when I saw the amazing accessories and lighting from the dynamite interior design brain of Michelle Nussbaumer. I can’t get enough of these divine “Splendoras.” They feel like a modern take on a Mexican folk art cross – minus the religion and plus a little sexy. No doubt, Ms. Nussbaumer has been influenced by the treasures of the deeply chic Mexican town of San Miguel de Allende, where she is lucky enough to be working on a project.

Pedro Friedeberg

As we were dismantling our La Cienega window recently, I popped over to Downtown for one last look at the incredible Pedro Friedeberg sculpture the talented and hilarious Kim Alexandriuk used in her Diego Rivera-inspired window.

It got me thinking how much I love a funky surrealist and few are funkier than Mr. Friedeberg. Please enjoy this bio I found on his website. It’s a bit long but very worth the read: Read the rest of this post »

Bedding Round-Up

Spring has finally sprung in earnest here in Southern California and there is something about this time of year that always makes me want to change up my bedding. For me, spring cleaning always includes a fresh look for the bed. Therefore, I have been shopping and thought I’d share some of my finds. For a bit of ethnic flair, add one of these Leila Block-Print Mini Quilts from Pottery Barn. There is lots of this kind of Indian block print bedding on the market right now but I think this is a particularly good incarnation. It feels very Manuel Canovas to me. Please note that they call it mini because it measures only 50″x70″. It’s really a throw more than a blanket or quilt.

God Bless Bergdorf’s

I had an absolutely lovely afternoon there on Monday. It all starting of with a boozy lunch (that rare treat) in the beautiful BG Restaurant designed by Kelly Wearstler. Imagine me perched here sipping a glass of rosé with some chic friends (rosé in the winter? I can’t imagine anything better In this room decked out in Ladurée macaroon colors…)

Lightly tipsy, imagine me wandering around the corner and running smack into this explosion of goodness:

The 80s are back…

So I know no one wants to hear it but the 80s are back in a big way, people. Think pastels, lots of pink and purple, soft edges on upholstery, all sorts of cocainey mirrors and lots of mixed metals. Read the rest of this post »
