Multicolored lucite (and glass)

As regular readers of this blog already know, I am a women obsessed with lucite.  You also know that I love strong colors so it will come as no surprise that I am FEELING the colorful lucite (and glass) furniture and accessories I have been seeing recently.  Two great tastes that taste even better together.  See if you agree.  The item that got me all hot and bothered showed up in my inbox this morning from a friend and the simple question, "Have you seen this?":

Well, no, as a matter of fact I hadn't seen this Dark Side of the Moon coffee table by Piero Lissoni.  You had me with the Pink Floyd reference but kept me with the rainbow of saturated candy colors that made my mouth water.  My mind started racing.  Hadn't I seen something on Design Crisis with a similar flavor?  A little investigating led me to this outrageous (in a perfect way) Sun Table by Versace Home:

First of all, the combination of jaunty colors feels so fresh and unexpected.  Second, I am mesmerized by the designer's ability to make the piece feel as if it's floating on a burst of thick lucite rods.  Amazing.  Inspired, I began searching the interweb in earnest for all things with a mix of clear and color.  My first find were these Clarity Multi Color Glass Tables from ABC:

I love how each color looks on its own but even more, how the colors create new combinations as you move around the table and see them overlap.  This got me thinking about the Rainbow Chair by Patrick Norguet.  It's like one giant hard candy treat without all that stickiness.  Delicious!

Then I was off to Alexandra von Furstenberg's website to check out her line of multicolored acrylic furniture.  She magnificently brings the sexiness of the 70s into the right now with her clever shapes and bold accent colors.  This Radiant Acrylic Coffee Table comes in five hues (I am loving the bravado of this neon pink!) and completely lives up to its name:

Her site is chock full of dazzling, chunky eye candy.  Check out this Brilliant Acrylic Console Table.  Brilliant, indeed!

Again, there are five color options for this piece but my favorite, hands down, is this red and hot pink combo.  I mean, come on!  Then there are these jaw dropping Trillion Acrylic Side Tables (named after the diamond cut, natch):

Of all the covetable items on her crisp, sleek site, I think these are my favorites.  I am having fantasies of customizing the size and using a cluster of them for my living room coffee table.  That will have to stay a fantasy for awhile as all of these pieces come with a hefty pricetag. Oh well.  A girl can dream...

If you are jonesing for a little of the clear and candy mix (that's a little more in reach at around $329 each), try one or more of these Hi-Cut Chairs by Philippe Starck for Kartell:

Or modify your basic Billy bookcase from Ikea by switching out the back panels with different colored acrylic ones:

Or bring in a little blast a of sunshine with this vintage Alessandro Albrizzi 4x6 box:

If you are feeling flush, you could always spring for a new version from Moss:

These ain't cheap but this set of five lucite candle holders would add a lot of pizzazz to any table:

As would a set of these acrylic coasters (again from Alexandra von Furstenberg - ok, so I have a serious crush...)

And finally, if you like the look of clear and colored mixed acrylic but the bright colors aren't your bag, how about this sleek, vintage table lamp?  David Hicks may reach out from his grave to wrestle it from your hands...

I know I have gone a bit crazy today but can you blame me?  Enjoy!
